The Challenge
The primary distribution channel and archivist for U.S. military imagery, Defense Visual Information (DVI), had a web presence consisting of several websites with distinct identities, content, and functionality. Consequently, website visitors had a highly disjointed experience centered on organizational structure rather than imagery. DVI sought to reinvent its websites to better showcase its media assets and optimize the presentation of imagery to the defense community, the media, and the public.
Our Approach
We conducted extensive user experience research to gain insight into DVI’s needs. We interviewed dozens of the organization’s military and commercial customers during this process, revealing distinct user groups with their own particular needs. The research ultimately determined the primary requirements for DVI’s website redesign, which enabled us to develop a rich user experience and design concept for the new site.
Results
Sapient delivered to DVI a comprehensive report based upon our user experience research findings. They were so pleased that we were asked to develop a plan and implement the first phase of the new site, deploying an entirely new user experience to meet DVI’s deadline to launch the revamped site in 9 weeks.
